The Problem:
Asher, my middle child, had been displaying signs of “Middle Child Syndrome”. I noticed that he often did things (bad things like hurting his siblings) to get attention, and then wasn’t too interested in listening to me correct him.
I am a firm believer that problems in children’s behavior can be fixed by changing the parent’s behavior. I don’t believe kids do bad things because they want to be bad, or even because they are interested in irritating the parent. If undesirable behaviors are happening, it’s a problem in the connection between parent and child, and we as parents are responsible for that connection…not the other way around!……
